Course Information.
Secret Valley Golf Club opened for play in September 1996. Designed
by Iacovos Iacovou, who also constructed the Donald Steel designed Tsada
Golf Club; Secret Valley is near “Petra tou Romiou” the legendary birthplace
of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and only 18 kilometres East of Paphos
or 49 kilometres from Limassol.
The golf course lies in a scenic valley with strikingly colourful natural
rock formations and grand trees that add maturity to the fairly new
course.
The combination of the natural setting, the established trees and the
layout of the golf course offer players panoramic views of the area
that help create a truly memorable golfing experience.
Not a long course at slightly under 6,000 metres the par 71 layout
allows the player to warm up to the round with four nice gentle holes
starting the front nine. The first and third are par 4’s of 375 and
335 metres respectively, both have fairway bunkers half way between
tee and green but you can let the driver loose as even a badly miss
hit tee shot won’t be too costly. The second and forth holes are par
3’s which will reward accuracy and should not present too many problems
especially the forth, at only 120 metres it could be the hole to set
up an early birdie regardless of the tricky bunker placed in front of
the green.
"Not a long course at slightly under 6,000 metres the par 71
layout allows the player to warm up to the round with four nice gentle
holes starting the front nine. But beware, the back 9 will bite back."
Don’t let the front nine lull you into a false sense of security as
the back nine will bite back, starting from the tenth.
At 475 metres the tenth is a long par 5. Playing this hole well will
require managing your game and avoiding the fairway bunkers. This is
quickly followed by the tricky 13th. A par 3 of only 145 metres don’t
go long, in the winter there is water behind the green, it is no easier
in the summer as behind the green is out of bounds.
The finishing hole is another long par 5 at 515 metres, if you have
kept it together this far and avoid the lakes behind the green you could
be on for a good score.
The clubhouse at Secret Valley as the one at Tsada, has a wooden interior
and facilities that include a fully stocked Pro-shop, locker rooms,
bar and restaurant with verandas overlooking the artificial lakes and
the golf course. The practice facilities are also excellent with putting
and chipping greens, practice bunkers and a large driving range. Tuition
can be arranged on an individual or group basis and tailored to suit
individual requirements.
