Course Information.
The Golden Eagle Golf & Country Club was one of the most private exclusive
golf courses in Portugal before being opened to the public in 1997.
For several years the course condition did decline, but it is a pleasure
to report that the layout has been restored to its former glory.
Situated 60 kilometres north of Lisbon, the 'Rocky' Roquemore-designed
course has a feeling of a good North Carolina course about it. It is
framed by a landscape dominated by the beautiful local flora stone pines,
decorative eucalyptuses, mimosas and acacias. Its design is typical
of the modern American way, with the emphasis on target golf.

In recognition of its quality, Golden Eagle was chosen to host the
Portuguese Amateur International Championship.
On the front nine the 6th is a real treat - a par four where the second
shot has to be played over some trees which have been strategically
placed in the middle of the fairway.
On the inward nine, the 12th presents an interesting challenge, with
the second shot having to be played over water to a shallow green in
order to make a par four.
Using the motorway from Lisbon or Estoril this great course is within
60-90 minutes of the majority of hotels.
