Course Information.
The first impressions are very good with a natural design blending
in with the rolling hills and lakes. We found that the approach shots
to the greens must be accurate with large and well positioned bunkers
taking any shot that was not hit correctly. There are some monster greens
with Himalaya contours that will test the very best putters. We strongly
advise you take full advantage of these two great courses and play 36
holes in this peaceful and beautiful part of the Algarve.
Both these championship courses lie on the lower slopes of the Monchique
mountains in a secluded and peaceful location. The first nine holes
of the Morgado course are rolling parkland and offer a relatively benign
start to round. The second nine offers more of a challenge with the
natural landscape coming more into play, especially of the tee.
"What we enjoy about the courses is the lack of development and
the peace and quite of the Portuguese countryside."
The course measures 6339 metres and can play long especially with a
stiff wind, but there is room from the tee and all the hazards are positioned
fairly and only penalize the wayward shot.
The new Alamos course was opened in November 2005 to a restricted number
of players, the course is fully opened in March 2006. The golf director
Jorge Papa believes this course will rank high on the must to play courses
in Portugal and eventually become their premium course.
