Course Information.
At times the umbrella lined fairways and beautiful surroundings have
a distinct feeling of some of the finest courses in the Algarve about
them.
This parkland courses was opened 9 years ago so it is a bit of a stretch
of the imagination to call it the 'old' course.Designed by Michael Gayon,
the course measures 6862 yards and is a par 72.
The course itself is set amongst of forest of pines but brings into
play no fewer than 7 lakes, 63 bunkers and a variety of dog-legs that
keeps the golfer thinking.
Many of the fairways are cut tightly through the forest meaning that
some may reach for an iron rather than unleashing the big dog.
"An excellent test of golf - the Old Course is another course
to keep it to the fairways as in parts the trees are so dense you have
very little chance of keeping a score in tact if you stray. "
The Old Course has been host to some big tournaments in its short history
including the European Seniors Tour and the World Golfers Championship
in 2005.
