Course Information.
The design uses the natural landscape with the Sierra Bermeja mountain
range as its backdrop and sea views from most parts of the course.
The fairways are wide and the greens large providing a challenge for
players of all levels without penalising the average golfer.
For those not keen on water hazards, water is sparingly but tactically
used on the course, particularly the 10th hole.
The course is liberally planted with palms, eucalyptus and wild olive
trees and players have a great opportunity to enjoy many rare species
of wildlife, particularly on the back nine.
"Most of the fairways slope up or downhill and being able to
play from side hill lies is a definite advantage"
Estepona Golf is privately owned by Rory Leader. His policy is to concentrate
on visiting golfers as a 'pay as you play' course.
The 18-hole course was designed by José Luis López and first opened
in 1989. It is located on the inland side of the main coastal road at
Km. 150, just one mile from Estepona town centre.
Players who are unaccustomed to the warmer temperatures and terrain
are encouraged to rent one of the 40 new Club Cars. Alternatively, trolleys
are available for those who prefer to walk but not carry.
The clubhouse is situated near the 18th green and offers enjoyable
views from its terraces towards the sea and the Sierra Bermeja mountains.
