Course Information.
The Golf Course at Buenavista del Norte is situated on the extreme
northeastern corner of the island of Tenerife, in the area known as
Daute - Isla Baja.
Surrounded by the Teno mountain range that is a protected region and
the Atlantic Ocean, this area features some of the most picturesque
locations and landscapes on Tenerife, such as the hamlet of Masca.
This part of the island is characterized by a mild climate that remains
reasonably constant throughout the different seasons of the year.
Designed by Severiano Ballesteros, Buenavista’s 6,150 meter, par 72
course revolves around the clubhouse and its impressive views from the
terraces. With the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop the views of the course
and its setting are stunning.
The course is evenly divided between par 3s, 4s and 5s. The par 4s
are the most demanding holes on the outward nine whilst it is the par
3s on the inward nine particularly the 15th and 17th as they are framed
by the sea. The course has been designed to test the golfers range of
shot making and each hole present’s different challenges and options
as to how it should or could be played.
"the focal point and central attraction must be the waterfall
in front of the clubhouse that links the water hazards of the 9th and
18th holes. "
All the fairways have been designed to compliment the natural contours
of the terrain and indigenous plants have been encouraged and widely
used to highlight the layout of the course.
The greens on five of the holes are close to the small cliffs of the
rocky coastline, where the waves break creating a remarkably beautiful
and dramatic sight. Playing to some of the holes can be quite daunting;
visually it appears that you will be hitting the ball out into the Ocean.
As well as the ocean, water is an important feature on the course starting
on the very first hole with the water hazard located next to the historic
"Hacienda de la Fuente". From here the water flows down past the 17th
and on into the sea. However, the focal point and central attraction
must be the waterfall in front of the clubhouse that links the water
hazards of the 9th and 18th holes.
