Course Information.

One of the most highly regarded courses in Portugal, Aroeira offers a wide range of different playing situations and is set in dense woodland, so that it has become known as the "Wentworth of Lisbon".

Designed by Frank Pennink, the original Aroeira course skilfully blends the needs of a championship golf course with the harmonious surroundings of a natural landscape.

The course runs through a pine wood dotted here and there with wild flowers, a genuine nature reserve inhabited by many species of birds.

The dense woodland has earned it the name of the "Wentworth of Lisbon'', because of the similarities between this course and the one at the famous London club. Set in a vast estate close to Costa de Caparica (a long beach with 30 kilometres of white sand), Aroeira has the added advantage of being just 20 minutes to the south of Lisbon.

After hosting the Portuguese Open (European Tour) in 1996 and 1997, Aroeira increased its golfing attractions with the opening of a second 18-hole course in 2000.
